We just don't go
BrittneyG links to an excellent article today in the Nashville Scene. The conclusion that the author takes great pains to come to is, sadly, the correct one. We are a land founded on religious liberty but Islam and us, well, we just don't go. Islam clashes, not only with the Christian Religious Right on theological grounds, it clashes with our overall tolerant (small "L") liberal culture.
As much as we certainly don't belong over there trying to export our way of life, they don't belong over here importing theirs, either. We should not make the mistake that Western Europe has made. Muslim immigration to the U.S. should be extremely limited.

I don't think it's Islam per se, that doesn't mix well, but culture of the Islamics that hasn't evolved as fast as the rest of the world. Where most world cultures accept duality, the Islamic nations have yet to see a benefit in it. All this suicide bombing stuff is the expression of their last holdouts who are against the idea.
In the USA we've had the same kind of resistance to change - such as the lynching of blacks as they moved up the social ladder gaining greater acceptance as equal citizens, some holdouts resisted. But, like in America, Islamic resistance will, for the most part, die out as well.
cha ching, my 2 cents worth.
